Salvage value
is a portion of a fixed asset cost that is expected to be recovered at the end of its useful life. Salvage value is considered in calculating depreciation expense by subtracting it from the original cost of a fixed asset to arrive at the depreciable cost (except for the double-declining balance method of depreciation).
