Not-sufficient-funds check
(also called NSF check) is a check that cannot be honored by a bank due to insufficient funds in the account of the check drawer. A non-sufficient-funds check amount is an item on a bank statement but not on the books. A non-sufficient-funds check amount should be deducted from the book balance in preparing a bank reconciliation.
